Argentinian Tenor Jazz Saxophonist Leandro "Gato" Barbieri. Gato was part of the free jazz movement in New York City back in the 1960' & is famous for his Latin Jazz recordings of the 1970's.
Living in New York during these frenetic years, Sax Berlin saw Gato many times and his memories of those late night gigs has spawned this piece. An homage to Gato and a fitting addition to Berlin's Jazz Kats series as Barbieri truly was a jazz cat, the nickname of Gato meaning cat in Spanish.
