William John Thomson RSA (American 1771-1845)

Born Savannah USA 1771, returned to his ancestral home of Scotland 1812. Member of the Royal Scottish Academy.

Thomson famed for his miniature works, several of which are on display at the Met in NYC

The Gleaner, 1825.  Oil on board in good condition. Nicely framed, not original frame.

Comes with letter from National Gallery of Scotland establishing Thomson as the artist. The painting was exhibited in the National Gallery in 1827
