Alexandria Lira was born in Southampton, N.Y. in 1989. Her heritage is Argentinian, and during her childhood travels around the world and with parental encouragement she developed her favorite hobby, sketching.  Recognising her talent & creativity her mother realized that Alexandria was serious and encouraged her talent for artistic expression. The hobby developed into a passion for both drawing and painting. She attended the Pratt Institute, where she studied Graphic Design. She is works as a gallery representative for a Fine Art gallery and as a freelance graphic designer for clients in Manhattan. Artist StatementMy approach to art is inspired by my dreams and visions of how I see everyday life. And my paintings are just that- the chaos and grandeur in the world, its degradation, and at times, unfathomable beauty, all bound inseparably. I combine techniques of surrealism, pop art, graphic design and graffiti; all intertwined into dream-like fantasy collages, often times with an underlying message. The past few years have seen my experimentation incorporate natural elements: waterlogged scrap wood and metal, along with traditional use of canvas and paper. All are backdrops for a torrid of robust colors in acrylics or monochromatic graphic landscapes in ink. I strive to combine the evocative with the fanciful in my artistic expression.
